I can speak some Latin and French, although I rely on a translator to understand French. I may be French, but I don't speak it that good.

French is my mothertongue, I can speak and understand German to a certain extent, and also some local language like Breton and tiny bits of Welsh.

Well growing up in the US kind of makes it hard to learn your own language, especially if nobody in your family does.

I say I'm French because my family is from France. Not just France, but for the most part. I could say I a lot of things and they'd all be true. Depends on what the context is.

Russian must be so convenient to know on the internet. There is a lot of seemingly geeky and interesting russian site out there that I wish I could understand.

I use English when I'm online chatting or talking to people.
With some of my Chinese friends I use Mandrin(Chinese) to talk to them. Pretty much they know more dilects than me though like Cantonese, Hokkien and so on.
Also I talk to my malay friends using the Malay language. This malay language is the one used in my country Malaysia not Indonesia which has almost the same sentence structure just that the words used are pretty much different.[/code]

I speak a bit of French - it comes back to me more the more I speak it and I've been trying to brush up on it a bit with some free language courses from the BBC.

I know a handful of words in Italian and Spanish but nowhere near enough to get by! I can speak Chinese a little, but again not enough to cope in China and I know one phrase in mandarin...so that wouldn't get me far either lol!

For me I find speaking a language much easier than writing it, I think it's because in school they taught us more by listening and repeating than seeing it written down.

I can only speak English, I took a course on Spanish in the past, but was having difficulty grasping it, frustrated I became disinterested and failed to pursue it any further, I presently regret that now. In short, I can only speak a few words or phrases from the Spanish language and that is about it.

I do have in my room a few books and cassettes for use in learning French which I had purchased from a yard sale a couple weeks ago, but I have so far failed to look into them. So yeah, for now just basic English for me.

My English is fluently, but I'm regretable monolingual at this point.

When I was young I took a couple years of Spanish, but nobody speaks it where I live and it wasn't long before what was learned faded away. Also learned a little Russian. Can read things but not understand, and for the most part have no clue what I'm doing anymore. xD
